Three people were taken to the hospital after escaping an early morning blaze at a home in Nassau County on Friday.
The East Meadow Fire Department received the call around 2:30 a.m. for fire in a bedroom of a house at 241 Bellmore Road.
Approximately 50 firefighters responded to the scene, with mutual aid from Wantagh and North Bellmore’s departments, officials say.
Two adults and a child were taken to Nassau University Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation.
There were a total of four occupants, including a third adult, inside the two-story residence when flames broke out, according to the Nassau Fire Marshal’s office.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes, under the command of East Meadow Chief Guidice.
The occupants of the home will be displaced due to no power and fire damage to the home.
The cause is under investigation by the fire marshal and the Nassau Police Arson/Bomb Squad.
