Multiple local volunteer departments responded to a fire at a house in Nassau County Sunday afternoon.
The Franklin Square & Munson Fire Department was alerted to the blaze on Barbara Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. following several 911 calls, fire officials say.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that two occupants of the residence had already self-evacuated and were being evaluated by EMS.
Approximately 70 firefighters worked to get the scene under control in about 30 minutes, with assistance from New Hyde Park, Garden City, West Hempstead, and Garden City Park.
No first responders were hurt and the residents of the home refused medical transport, according to Nassau Chief Fire Marshal Michael Uttaro.
Town of Hempstead Building Department evaluated the damage and deemed the structure uninhabitable for its three occupants.
The house did have the required working smoke detectors, the fire marshal’s office says.
