A small plane made an emergency landing in Shirley on Sunday night after experiencing a mechanical problem, officials said.
According to authorities, Arnold Wadley was piloting a Cessna aircraft when the plane's front landing gear failed to deploy properly, forcing him to make a crash landing at Brookhaven Calabro Airport.
Fire officials said after the crash they found that the front landing gear was leaking fluid.
No passengers were on board at the time of the incident.
Wadley, 54, of Lindenhurst, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk in Patchogue for a precautionary medical evaluation.
The Federal Aviation Administration was notified of the incident.
