The eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway are closed at Exit 40 due to a crash in Jericho.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m.

Nassau County police say numerous vehicles were involved and there are multiple injuries.

The severity of those injuries is not yet known.

Officials are advising motorists to use an alternate route.
