The extreme heat is back on Long Island starting today.
Actual air temperatures are expected to be in the middle to upper 90s for Nassau and western Suffolk counties. The heat index in these areas will be around 100 to 104 degrees at times.
It will be a bit more tolerable for the immediate South Shore and East End, but still hot and humid with temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
