New York state has announced its first measles death in more than 30 years, with health officials saying the victim was a child from Lewis County.
The county is north of Syracuse near the Canadian border.
The death comes a month after Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state disaster emergency in response to the measles outbreak.
The state Department of Health is urging all New Yorkers to get vaccinated to help stop the spread.
