The Town of Oyster Bay gathered at Tobay Beach Wednesday night to remember the lives lost in the Sept. 11 attacks and to honor those who have died from 9/11-related illnesses.

The annual memorial ceremony included the reading of the names of every Oyster Bay resident killed in the attacks.

The town also added four new names to its Wall of Honor, recognizing Oyster Bay residents who have since died from illnesses connected to 9/11.

One of the new names was Phillip Caramico. His wife, Mary Lynn Caramico, said it was a great honor to see her husband's name added to the memorial.

"It means so much. He went through a lot and he deserves it," she said. "We are so grateful to be part of this town and community."

Cliff Gotlieb, of Massapequa, who was at the World Trade Center during the 2001 attacks, reflected on what he witnessed that day.

"I saw the plane hit the building. Knew it wasn't an accident," Gotlieb said. "Felt terrible for the people, felt terrible for the first responders who ran in there when everyone else was running out."

Memorial candles were lit during the ceremony as family members and loved ones paid tribute to those they lost.

"They're the real heroes," one attendee said, referring to the people being honored.
