A registered sex offender was arrested again Tuesday following a visit to the Nassau County Probation Office.
Steven Klauer, 26, of Bethpage, who is a level one sex offender, was attending a required appointment with probation officers in Mineola on July 7.
During the visit, police say a phone belonging to the Klauer was recovered that was believed to be used for sexual purposes.
Following an extensive investigation by Nassau’s Special Victims Squad, the man was placed into custody at his residence on Oct. 6.
Additionally, News 12 has learned the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted in the investigation, because one of the victims is from that state.
Klauer pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Tuesday to multiple counts of disseminating indecent material to minors, promoting a sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age and possessing sexual performance by a child less than 16 years of age.
He is due back in court on Thursday.
