A nurse’s aide at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip was arrested Friday for sexually abusing a teenage patient, according to Suffolk police.
Authorities say the investigation began after a hospital employee called 911 and reported that Trever Lauriano, 36, had victimized a 15-year-old girl.
Detectives determined that the offense took place while the girl was in the behavioral unit on Aug. 3.
Lauriano has since been charged with sexual abuse, forcible touching and child endangerment.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Good Samaritan released the following statement to News 12:
“Upon learning of this incident, the individual was immediately placed on administrative leave while an investigation was conducted, resulting in termination of employment. We take these matters very seriously. The safety of our patients remains our top priority.”
