The Hicks Nurseries Fall Festival is celebrating its 51st year, and this year's festival has the traditions your family has come to expect and new experiences that haven't been tried before.
The Fall Festival Market
The biggest addition is the new, indoor Fall Festival Market, creating an entire destination within the festival for seasonal shopping. The market is divided into specialty areas where you can shop for fall fun. The Harvest Moon Market has fun fall décor, the Boo-tique has unusual Halloween themed finds, the Toy Shoppe is for kids, and Botanical Curiosities, a new spot for plant lovers looking for unusual and even spooky plants. You'll find carnivorous plants and other botanical oddities for sale that make the Botanical Curiosities section especially interesting for gardeners who want something beyond the traditional mums and pumpkins.
Of course you'll find pumpkins too. Hicks Nurseries has more than 40 different types of pumpkins in an assortment of shapes, sizes, and colors.
A Halloween-Themed Display Garden
Another addition is the new Skeleton Estate Garden, an indoor garden display where fall plants and seasonal flowers are mixed with Halloween decorations and a family of skeletons. It gives visitors another reason to explore inside, while also offering ideas for incorporating fall color and Halloween décor into a garden.
Updates to the Fall Classics at Hicks Nurseries
Otto the Ghost is back at Hicks Nurseries with a story you and your family can walk through. This year's story has new scenes. You can walk through whenever the nursery is open, but to meet Otto the Ghost, the best time to visit is during weekends.
Weekend Fun For the Family
Each weekend the nursery comes to life with activities for the family. There are three craft activities, mums, pumpkins, and new this year, a spooky nightlight craft. The Fall Festival Wristband includes this and unlimited access to the hay maze.
The festival also features live music, special demonstrations, Otto the Ghost meet and greets, lawn games, and a food truck with locally roasted corn.
The 51st annual Hicks Nurseries Fall Festival runs through Nov. 1 at Hicks Nurseries in Westbury. Admission and parking are free, with some activities available for an additional fee.
