A 41-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday by Suffolk County police for damaging a statue at an East Islip church.
The statue of Jesus at St. Mary's Church was discovered without its head by
gathering parishioners.
The Hate Crimes Unit began investigating and subsequently took Deyonna Subert into custody.
She is charged with criminal mischief.
