A woman was seriously injured when a domestic incident escalated into a shooting early Thursday morning in Greenlawn, according to police.

Investigators say a man shot the 40-year-old victim at 12:52 a.m. on Leigh Street. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police say the suspect fled the scene. No arrests have been made.

A neighbor told News 12 that she heard the gunshot and called 911.

"I went outside to make sure to give first aid, see if she needs CPR or something. I thought she was dead to be honest,” she said.
