A dispute between neighbors and a landscaper turned violent Tuesday afternoon in Massapequa Park, leaving the landscaper with serious injuries, according to Nassau police.
Police say officers responded to a dispute involving a homeowner and a landscaper.
Christopher Ayala says his brother, the landscaper involved in the incident, was the victim of the attack.
"My first reaction was, 'Is my brother going to make it?'" Ayala said.
Ayala alleges that two neighbors attacked his brother with baseball bats.
He shared photos of his brother's injuries with News 12 and says his brother suffered an injured collarbone, severe injuries to his left arm and hand, and bruising across much of his body.
Ayala also says his brother previously survived a traumatic brain injury in 2015, raising concerns about the long-term impact of the alleged attack.
"My brother is not going to be OK after this. He's not going to be the same person after today," Ayala said.
Tom Kutschera, who says the incident happened on his mother's lawn, expressed shock over the violence.
"Incidents are pretty quiet in this neighborhood. We don't get much going on here on this street," Kutschera said. "I'm shocked a neighbor would do this to another individual here."
Nassau County police say two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
