A Long Beach teen was arrested for string of burglaries and assault with a BB gun.
Marc Peletier says he got the scare of his life after he says an 18-year-old was trying to break into his back door.
"I was sitting around watching TV, and I heard something in the back of my house,” said Peletier. “I see him, and I yelled at him. And I see he's got a gun, so he takes off again."
Just before 6 p.m., Tuesday police got a call about a man trying to steal a bike from someone's backyard.
investigating police say they got a second call about the same man holding a black handgun.
Police found 18-year-old Yoser Sandoval Gomez close by, and the weapon was found to be a BB gun. Police say further investigation revealed the suspect had broken into another house through a back door and confronted a woman inside.
He also allegedly attempted to enter another house but was chased away. During that pursuit, cops say the suspect turned and shot the bb gun at the homeowner, hitting him in the head and causing physical injury.
"Crazy that happened right here,” said Pierce Fine, of Long Beach. “It's supposed be a safe area and everything. But at least they got the guy."
Sandoval Gomez was arraigned Wednesday at Long Beach City Court.
He was charged with burglary, attempted burglary, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
This wasn't his first arrest.
He had been previously charged with burglary at a Long Beach fire station.
