Multiple Nassau County communities are mourning a man who died after police said he was attacked during a robbery at a gas station in South Hempstead last weekend.

Nassau County police said yesterday that Justinn Thomas, 30, died from head injuries sustained during the altercation.

He most recently worked at Another Level barber shop in Baldwin.

"He was a good guy, had a good heart and he was trying to make an honest living for his family and support his children," barber Keith Willis said. "He never gave me any problems while he was working here."

Nassau County Police said officers responded to the BP gas station at 470 Grand Ave., near the intersection of May Street, just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, for a robbery.

That's where officers found Thomas in critical condition.

Nassau County police said Thomas was not an employee at the gas station and that he was attacked.

Multiple gas station employees who reviewed surveillance video said a group robbed Thomas outside the station and he was dragged as he held onto the suspects' vehicle.

Nassau County police have not commented on that.

"It really shouldn't have gone down the way that it did," Willis said.

Nassau County police have not announced an arrest in the deadly robbery.
