The Suffolk County Water Authority is suing a lithium-ion battery facility, alleging that a fire contaminated the ground water with forever chemicals.
The site on Cove Hollow Road in East Hampton caught fire in 2023. According to the suit, PFAs from the batteries entered the water and migrated into the Bridgehampton wellfield.
Suffolk County Water Authority says they had to shut down two wells as a result of the incident.
National Grid owns the property. News 12 is waiting to hear back for comment.
